After weeks of speculation and debate, Marmite’s first ever election campaign drew to a close last night, when the nation voted the pro-Marmite Love Party as the winning side.
The closely-fought battle resulted in the Love Party beating the Hate Party with 51.87% of the vote – the narrowest of margins against a total of 39,891 votes.
Both sides have been campaigning tirelessly over the past few weeks in a bid to attract voters – but in the end, the Love Party triumphed.
The Love Party will fulfill its victory pledge of building a celebratory shrine to Marmite, for lovers to congregate and worship their favourite yeast extract. The monument is expected to be situated within the region of Marmite’s birthplace, Burton-upon-Trent.
